Our Mission

Men Entering Nursing,
Beyond the Name.

Many students and faculty look at the name of our club and think it's abrasive, I've heard people look at the name of our club and think it is sexist, misogynistic, discriminatory. So, I am going to address these misconceptions right now.

Inclusivity:

it’s important to emphasize that M.E.N. is not exclusive to men. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. We recognize that creating a more diverse and inclusive nursing workforce benefit everyone, which is why we actively seek and encourage participation from all students, regardless of gender.

Our goal is to foster an environment where every nursing student feels supported, valued, and heard. M.E.N. is a place where all students can come together to discuss and address the unique challenges that arise in a diverse learning environment. Whether it's sharing strategies for overcoming barriers in the classroom, supporting each other through the rigors of clinical practice, or advocating for greater diversity in the nursing profession, M.E.N. is about unity and collaboration. We understand that the strength of our future nursing workforce lies in its diversity.

By working together—men and women, side by side—we can break down stereotypes, challenge the status quo, and ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. M.E.N. is here to build bridges, not walls. We are a community of students committed to supporting one another and to creating a more inclusive and equitable nursing profession for all. What I’m getting at is not only is our club open to women, but our female peers are essential to bridge the gap, to support overall excellence within the George Fox College of Nursing

Transparency:

These constitution and bylaw documents specifically have an inclusivity statement: "Men Entering Nursing is open and accessible to all undergraduate George Fox students, without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, gender, age, economic status, or physical ability." Our club strives to be fully transparent, below you will find our constitution and bylaws publicly available to anyone.

Our Mission:

Men Entering Nursing aims to foster an environment in which ALL students can work together to combat feelings of loneliness, alienation, and other barriers specific to men entering nursing through mutual support, mentorship, positive role modeling, and other evidence-based intervention.

Our Purpose:

Men Entering Nursing is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging among male and female nursing students alike, fostering a relationship with Christ, promoting academic success, and creating a platform for shared experiences, ultimately contributing to the diversity and inclusivity of the nursing community at George Fox University.
